About the Association

Our Story

The LXX Squadron Association was originally formed in the 1960s, holding dinners and other social events enjoyed by hundreds of former and current members over the decades.

Just 20 years ago, the annual events held at RAF Lyneham attracted well over 100 members, which included a large cohort from the days when LXX Squadron was flying Wellington Bombers in Italy during World War II.

Sadly we have now lost all of our incredible WWII alumni who formed the backbone of the Association over many decades. Compounded with the temporary ‘stand down’ of the Squadron from 2010 – 2016, membership dwindled significantly and the Association was kept alive by a handful of wonderfully dedicated members including Garry Brown, Graham Flew, Jon Hough and Skid Brown, who kept the flames alight and paved the way for this rejuvenation and modernisation of this important organisation.

Our Association

Now that the Squadron is operating at full capacity again at RAF Brize Norton, and with significant events on the horizon – such as the withdrawal of the C-130 Hercules from RAF service next year, and the 30th anniversary of the tragic XV193 crash in Scotland, it is the time to re-launch a vibrant and modern Association.

We are therefore into a new era for the club, where we want to encourage many more ex-LXX folks from recent decades to join, along with current Squadron members.

Join the Association!

Join past and present members of the Squadron – you will have access our exclusive members area where you can catch up with old friends, as well as see our extensive calendar of social events.
